The Burke-Gaffney Observatory team is honoured to share Star Finder - The David Lane Astronomy Outreach Program, a program created by the generosity of the late Dr. David Lane (pictured left) and his wife Michelle Lane created to continue Dave's dedication to and legacy of astronomy outreach.
The Observatory Director Vincent Henault-Brunet and Technician Tiffany Fields are joined by Education Outreach Officer, SMU student Mackenzie Hayduk and teaching consultant (and SMU alum) Andrea Misner to deliver this program to teachers throughout Nova Scotia.

As we start this program, we are focusing on building materials related to the Grade 9 Nova Scotia Science curriculum as it relates to space and building materials and lesson plans for Grade 9 teachers to use in their classrooms.
As part of this roll-out, we will be hosting a two-day Teacher's Workshop at Saint Mary's University on August 19-20th, 2025. If you're interested in joining or staying updated, please indicate in this Form so we can keep you updated.
