Upcoming events:

The events below go ahead on the most clear night of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. The status of the weekend's open house can be checked on the status page.

The Burke-Gaffney Observatory runs public tours roughly every other weekend, all throughout the year. Check above for the currently-published schedule.

You can expect there to be breaks in tour schedules during student exam periods in April and December, and at the beginning of term in September and January.

General information about our public open houses is here.

Another local Astronomy event (not Burke-Gaffney Observatory affiliated, just sharing info!):

On May 3, International Astronomy Day, members of the Halifax Chapter of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada will be at the Discovery Centre to answer your astronomy-related questions and show off some of their astronomy gear. Weather permitting, there will be solar observing in the afternoon near the entrance and stargazing in the evening on the boardwalk behind the Discovery Centre. For more astronomy action, tune into Stars Across Canada for an online global star party featuring Canada-wide outreach activities by members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.
